The idea
We will be looking to purchase equipment which covers running, jumping, climbing, balance and sensory fields. We would like to replace what was there - large multi play frame, with attached slide, springers, spinners as well as more modern equipment if funds allow. We hope to provide a welcoming and safe area for the benefit of the community, where children and villagers can interact and play together, encouraging outside exercise and community cohesion. Currently the Recreation ground has only a basketball hoop and a set of very old swings. The nearest other play equipment is over 3 miles away and we have no public transport to speak of in the village.
A donation of £2 or £5 would be fantastic and make all the difference!!
What we'll deliver
- galaxy supernova 3780
- multi play frame 8470
- Springers x2 1140
- Balance beams/bars 1350
- spica spinning pole 910
- spinner bowls x 2 1160
- vat 3362
Why it's a great idea
Whilst it is a rural community the Recreation Ground is considered a safe and secure place for children to play. We would like to see the Rec and Village Hall as a hub of the village, and hopefully deter children from going farther afield and trying to entertain themselves by climbing on equipment in farmyards where it can be extremely dangerous. In a small village like Dagnall it’s hard for the children to get out. The roads are too dangerous for cycling and there are no buses. They have to make their own fun, but keep safe. Dagnall Rec is in an excellent position and we need to make the most of it!
Steps to get it done
- raising a minimum of £20172 so work can start with basic equipment being provided
We will also be running fundraising efforts such as a repeat of last year's inaugural Dagnall Santa Dash, sponsored Tae Kwon Do events, village fetes (usually always in pouring rain and hail, just to test our mettle!) and themed evenings at the Village Hall. Dagnall is a small rural community. As we are 'washed over' by the Greenbelt we do not receive S106 money as we rarely have enough / any houses built to generate the funds, which other villages and towns would use for play equipment. We are outside of the area for grants form local landfill sites and receive only a small amount from the Parish Council for maintenance of the Village Hall and Rec each year. Whilst we raise enough money through hall hire to cover day to day running costs, we simply cant manage to make large capital expenditures, such as what is required here, without relying on outside funding. Please, if you can, even pledge just £2 to help us!
