The environment

The project directly recycled 60 bikes back into use (50 library bikes and 10 bikes for asylum seekers). This supported the circular economy by preventing them from being scrapped, saving raw materials and energy taken to dispose of them.

We have a team of 11 workshop volunteers who help to refurbish the bikes for the bike library and for the hotel. They also help to support the young people who attend our mechanics sessions.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Rusty Riders promotes cycling for health and well-being. Promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. People who live with disabilities face additional barriers to regular exercise. Reports from participants show that key benefits are physical exercise but also the social contact of the group activity.
