Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Family culture & language exchange sessions. Cultural DIY workshops for Church Street families from different cultural backgrounds and languages. The events aim to allow families to exchange cultural means and languages after the lockdown, kids from different ethnicities together will have the time to mix and play with the support of their families. 7 workshops will introduce our innovative new soft book that teaches any age any language, the book will be used as an icebreaker for 20 families at the time, with an average 2 kids a family. A weekly cross culture family meetings to introduce each other languages, cultures. The soft book will be a focus activity to start with, but each family can bring a picture, food or even sing a song from their own country of origin. More than 60% of the fund collected will be utilised to hot 20 family each week for 7 weeks, a room rent included, gifts and material for the workshops.

What we'll deliver:

  • Cross cultural exchange meetings for families with kids under 8 years old.
  • Subsidised soft book offered for families to help learn language and more.
  • Kids art show

Why it's a great idea:

Arabic, Somali, Urdu speakers and more residents in and around Church Street , Westminster. All mums can attend one or more of the 7 workshops for free to build their own soft book and integrate with the local community for better kids future and safer neighbourhood. More than 100 families will build more social ties regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or mother language. Families keep teaching their mother languages at home and kids developed a skill of shifting between English and their families mother languages. The local mums with kids developed self secured and better social ties. We plan for a future social enterprise for mums to be established on the bases of equal opportunities, provide housewife general advocacy topics and help establishing micro businesses in various fields.

Steps to get it done:

  • Deliver Summer Inter culture event for 20 families and 40 kids to exchange background culture, food, and languages
  • One gathering for mothers from different cultural background to showcase their soft workbook and exchange lesson learned

3 Illustrated videos of how to teach your own language using a soft book with your kids and family. Drawings to the scale which should help families download and make the own book with a low-cost material. The project owner will bring some tools, part of the cost of the website, volunteers helping in workshops
