The idea
Celebrating diversity, culture and talent by coming together to share stories and crafts. Empowering women and creating opportunities for financial independence. Trans4m will provide the opportunity to for women to come together in a safe and secure environment to share their crafts, talents and stories, that link to their heritage. This will be a social experience where skills both new and existing can be shared and passed down from generations. Developing a collection of arts and crafts to display and transform in to trade.
What we'll deliver
- A collection of diverse arts and crafts from our culturally rich community
- Provide opportunities to explore talent, and transform to trade.
Why it's a great idea
“Creating artworks was the way to communicate beyond the language barrier” – multidisciplinary artist Haruka Ostley . Coming together to share stories and experiences of our diverse and culturally rich community is a great opportuntiy for community cohesion. The main aim of our project is to provide a space to work, a platform to communicate and a service to transform talent into trade.
Mental health charity Mind also believes that making time for craft can help with all kinds of mental health problems. “Lots of people find creative activities therapeutic because they help you switch off from day-to-day pressures and turn negative thoughts or feelings into something positive,” explains Mind’s Rachel Boyd.
The project is a great idea because it supports mental wellbeing, community cohesion and opportunities for women all under one roof.
