Culture cafe a vibrant social enterprise and creativity hub housing a Caribbean minimart, creative hub and gallery in Bulwell a place for community, conversation, connection and creativity.
This unique retail experience is a social enterprise maximising the creation of enriching opportunities for all. Our space will create an interactive learning environment whilst stocking, pantry essentials, goods and products also health and well-being products curated by and for the African and Caribbean Diaspora, whilst connecting the wider community. Creativity, Connection, conversation, collaboration, is art together we can create more. This space is dedicated to diversity and inclusion, diverse and collective action can produce extensive benefits. Our goal is to see a reduction of social exclusion, loneliness and misrepresentation of racially marginalised communities for lone parents and low-income families, increase of cultural exchange in Bulwell and to create sustainability community organisation. We will host monthly events & exhibitions with an aim to celebrate our diverse community, whilst catering for everyday needs of the African and & Caribbean community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Using creativity, enterprise and art to promote unity, diversity and inclusion will create access to resources and diverse, culturally appropriate goods, products and services will add to the Nottingham North area . We are inspired by our heritage and see a need for more positive representation and conversations. There are concerns around the disproportionate and complex needs of community strain on services in the city. There's a need for more spaces where people can come together to learn about different cultures, reduce isolation, and challenge stigmas faced by marginalised communities. The main beneficiaries of our project are the communities in Nottingham North and specifically those from the African Caribbean Diaspora. By creating a welcoming and inclusive space, we aim to bring people from different cultures together and provide a platform for cultural acceptance and representation.
Steps to get it done:
We believe that differences should not divide us, but rather enrich our understanding and appreciation of each other's backgrounds. There is a marked absence of spaces that celebrate cultural diversity and promote understanding, together we can foster unity, celebrate diversity and reduce social exclusion.
