More about our impact

The environment

Our workshops showed people how to make sculptures from recycled materials, including garden wire and plastic coffee cups.

The local economy

Our workshops and parade attracted people to and increased footfall in Kirkham town centre .

Volunteering, jobs & education

Our project increased the number of volunteering opportunities. Our workshops were held at different times and days meaning more people could volunteer at a time that suited them.

Arts, culture & heritage

We provided 18 workshops free of charge for the community in Kirkham. We provided opportunities to learn different sculpture and watercolour techniques. We celebrated everyone's new skills by holding a parade through the park.

Activity, health and leisure

66 People joined us for sculpture workshops, 28 people attended watercolour for wellbeing workshops and more than 200 made it to our parade in the Park.

Kirkham Cultural Connections is a lively and friendly community group that celebrates and promotes the wonderful arts, culture, and heritage right here in Kirkham. Our goal is to bring people together through fun and engaging projects that spark creativity, strengthen community bonds, and boost local pride. We believe that everyone, no matter their age or background, should have access to amazing cultural experiences. That's why we host a variety of activities like workshops, exhibitions, public art projects, and heritage events. These are all designed to encourage artistic expression, help you develop new skills, and raise awareness about our environment. We love teaming up with local artists, volunteers, and community groups to create meaningful opportunities for everyone to join in and learn. Sustainability and heritage are super important to us! We cherish Kirkham's natural and cultural history and weave environmental themes into our projects. We often use recycled materials and highlight our town's rich traditions. Our dream is to nurture a vibrant arts scene while supporting our community's well-being, encouraging economic growth, and making our town centre more lively and inviting. We're excited to have recently created a website, www.kirkhamcultural.org, where you can find updates on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and all the ways you can get involved with us.
