Along with the Crosby Town Team, our project has partnered with Stamps Crosby Music Festival in order to jointly provide an all-day, intergenerational Community Music Event and street party to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We will especially target those who do not live in streets (main roads, flats, retirement apartments etc.)
The pedestrianised area of Crosby Village centre will have bunting, balloons, hats, streamers and tables and chairs set up to create a party / festival atmosphere. We will hire a professional stage and sound system to host a variety of artistes who can entertainers all members of the community across all the age ranges. We are planning to have daytime crooners, ukulele bands, country & western groups and a DJ with junior music and games, moving on to evening performances from young upcoming bands. The night-time schedule of bands will rotate between the stage and the ten pubs in the surrounding area, who are all keen to participate in the event.
What we'll deliver:
- Street Party to Celebrate Queens Jubilee
- Live entertainment
Why it's a great idea:
-all members of the community can join together in a safe, party environment to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
-having a big and free celebration to look forward to
-everyone is invited
-the plans will benefit those who live on main roads, in flats, apartments, retirement homes etc or whose streets have no arrangements to celebrate
-the three local agencies who will form the new joint management team will use the event as a pilot project to attract future funding
-musicians, singers and dance bands will have an opportunity to perform live on a professional stage with a state-of-the-art sound system and an appreciative audience
-all performers will receive a free STEMS audio recording of their performance
-footfall in Crosby Village will increase to benefit our numerous local shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs – some of whom can offer packed lunches for sale
-We will also be raising the profile of all bands and performers through social media and the programme
Steps to get it done:
- To provide a big celebratory street party for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
We will provide bottled water and soft drinks but to avoid allergies and food contamination, people will be required to either bring their own packed lunch or make purchases from one of the food outlets in the village.
