The idea
From a number of years in developing the sporting skills of local talented youngsters at Teversal Cricket Club, it is evident from this year's attendance in difficult circumstances [Covid-19] that more youngsters wish to enjoy and succeed in their cricket where others have done previously.
As time goes by, cricketing kit needs replacing. From coaching aids for softball cricket for the youngest, to correcly fitting helmets and pads for the teenagers using the hard cricket ball, and the surfaces on which they can safely practice and train, we are endeavouring to overhaul our existing equipment and facilities to see Teversal's youngsters through our centenary in 2022, and for many years beyond.
What we'll deliver
- Purchase more fun training aids for the younger players
- Overhaul and replace the protective equipment for the teenagers
- Upgrade our existing facilities to allow wet weather practice
- Increase the number of registered coaches
Why it's a great idea
Teversal Cricket Club prides itself on it's recent history of developing social and sporting skills within local children, who have regularly progressed into senior league cricket. In providing an outlet for them to express themselves through playing a game, our initial aim is to reward them with the confidence that participation and enjoyment brings, that also improves their own self esteem and mental well-being.
Our most famous "old-boy" progressed from the same cricket field at Teversal, to represent his county at Trent Bridge during one of Nottinghamshire's most successful periods, and then on to play for the full England team against the Australian visitors team in 1985. Tim Robinson is now a professional cricket umpire.
In re-developing our cricketing facilities for the youngsters of today, we are aiming to continue with our successful senior teams of tomorrow, and to engage with tomorrow's youngsters for the next generation of cricketers both young and not so young.
Steps to get it done
- Purchase of softball coaching equipment
