The idea
We intend to transform Coronation Park's playground into a vibrant, inclusive haven for children of all ages. The outdated space, will be completely transformed with state-of-the-art equipment designed for fun and accessibility and new flowers planted. Families will gather daily on safe, colorful surfacing while children of all abilities, including those with additional needs, explore and play together. Open all year, the playground will be the heart of the community, welcoming local children and visitors from nearby Crosby beach.
Our design connects seamlessly with the park’s green spaces and the seaside, creating a beautiful, natural atmosphere. Sustainability is key, with repurposed equipment and ongoing maintenance by Sefton council. Visits will significantly increase, and the playground becomes a vital space for physical activity, socialization, and childhood development. This is more than just a playground—it’s a community treasure, offering an enjoyable and essential space.
What we'll deliver
- Inclusive play equipment for children of all ages
- Safe floor surfacing
Why it's a great idea
The new equipment will cater for children with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can participate, promoting equality and inclusivity.
Physical activity will increase, helping combat childhood obesity and reducing screen time, while the vibrant, well-used space will deter anti-social behavior. The playground will also become a vital social hub, encouraging families to gather, children to make new friends and explore the parks green space. With no entry fees it will provide free, accessible fun for thousands of local children, particularly helping those impacted by the rising cost of living.
A community questionnaire launched in 2023 received over 1,000 responses and strong support from local residents. Local businesses, schools, and nurseries also shared information about the project with their stakeholders.
Overall, this project will strengthen the community by creating a safe, exciting, and essential resource that will serve local families.
Steps to get it done
