Whitley Bay Cricket Club has a wonderful history in the sport. Started in 1926, from our home ground on the coast at Hillheads, we run 1st and 2nd XI teams on Saturdays in the Tyneside and Northumberland Cricket League. We also have a midweek team which competes in the North East Midweek Cricket League.
We have a developing Junior section with teams competing at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 this year but realise that we have to improve our matchplay and practice facilties to make it both safe and attractive to the people who will take this club forward in the future.
Since 2021 the Pavilion has been refurbished and now is a pleasant and attractive place to watch Cricket from - we have replaced all the internal furniture and have refurbished both the bar and the kitchen.
In 2022 we started our Junior section running the ECB developmental programmes (All Stars and Dynamos), this then lead to us being awarded Clubmark (one of a handful of clubs to be successful in 2022).
The club is now a central part of the community with an ever improving facility, family atmoshere, Live music events and a base for all to learn to play, socialise develop healthy attitudes to life and provide some clear space where people can feel safe and appreciated.
