The idea

Kind of Wild is a place where families can come together through nature based creative workshops, community events and home-ed forest school sessions. My goal is to create a sense of community amongst home educating families through ongoing and regular forest school/ nature based sessions and workshops.
All events and sessions will take place at our private woodland situated in Pirbright Village. Children will have access to an acre of woodland with outdoor play areas, a greenhouse for gardening activities, a nature pond, chickens, a fire circle area, parachute shelter for rainy days, den building, tree climbing, messy play + lots of other nature connection activities.
Other nature art focused workshops and community events will also be hosted here with a focus on supporting families on low incomes and people struggling with mental health.

What we'll deliver

  • Equipment and materials to create outdoor play areas
  • Tools & equipment to be able to deliver sessions efficiently
  • Build a natural borderline fence

Why it's a great idea

I'm a trained forest school leader with over 5 yrs experience. I have seen first hand the benefits that children (and grown ups) gain from spending lots of time outside and in nature

My project aims to promote children's self esteem, creativity, confidence and independence through child centred learning and play and supported risk taking. Week by week children will build on their knowledge and skills & will get to spend lots of time outdoors. It is widely know that children who attend regular forest school sessions will develop better communication & language skills, become more resilient, confident & more creative, learn a respect for nature & can grow to become stewards for the planet.

Involving families in seasonal gatherings & weekly circles will build family bonds, friendships and a sense of community and belonging. Being a single home educating mother myself I want to be able to offer discounted sessions & support to other mothers &families on low incomes that live locally.

Steps to get it done

  • Build a natural fence line around the border of our land
