Brilliant news, thanks everyone!

By Sussex Clubs for Young People Ltd
CREATE is a weekly youth project based in Bognor Regis and surrounding parishes which engages with disadvantaged young people to make a difference for all young people in their community.
Young people chose the name CREATE as a reflection of the fact this group is peer-led and about supporting young people to achieve their goals regardless of their background: C- Childhood R- Recognition E- Experimenting A -Attitude T- Transition E- End-Result Many of the young people CREATE engages with are from disadvantaged backgrounds, with child poverty in the under 16s rising as high as 26%. CREATE aims to provide a positive future for these young people, allowing them to achieve, succeed and define their individuality within society in a variety of ways. Successful programmes thus far include transforming a rundown, dirty subway with graffiti art created by the young people, and participation in outdoor sports, games and activities on greens in local parishes. CREATE has also identified and supported young volunteers into mentoring others, and encouraged them to further develop their skills.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The newly formed CREATE committee has been thrilled at the results and feedback we are seeing, with the young people showing a marked increase in self-esteem and emotional and mental wellbeing, as well as engagement in activities they would not normally have access to. Several of the CREATE members have indicated they are particularly passionate about drama, art and music, so despite limited funds, CREATE has connected them to instructors and materials to help them flourish in these areas. Having explored and developed these skills the young people passionately want a chance to showcase what they have learned whilst also giving back to the community, and have requested the chance to put on a performance event to local residents which would simultaneously raise money for charity. Bognor Regis Town Council and surrounding parishes would be willing to support if the local community is behind us - even pledging a small amount could go a long way to allowing young people to CREATE!
Steps to get it done:
Having explored and developed new skills the young people passionately want a chance to showcase what they have learned whilst also giving back to the community, and have requested the chance to put on a performance event to local residents which would simultaneously raise money for charity. CREATE members are also really keen to undertake more projects like the subway refurbishment that will help improve the local area or give back to the community in some way, and would really welcome ideas from the public on things they could do.
