More about our impact
The environment
We supported environmental sustainability by using some recycled and reusable materials in our craft sessions, encouraging participants to get creative with items that might otherwise be thrown away. Sessions were delivered in a local community venue, meaning many attendees could walk or car share helping reduce travel impact. We also minimised waste by reusing some materials and avoiding unnecessary single-use items where possible.
The local economy
The project supported the local economy by employing local freelancers, including a Professional Artist. We also supported the local church by hiring their community centre as our venue, alongside purchasing materials locally where possible. By creating regular sessions within the community, the project contributed to increased local footfall and ongoing engagement with community spaces.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The sessions also offered informal learning opportunities for participants, helping them develop new creative skills, build confidence, and improve their wellbeing in a supportive environment.
Arts, culture & heritage
The project supported arts and culture by providing regular opportunities for people to engage in creative activities in a welcoming community setting. Participants explored a range of arts and crafts, developing their skills and confidence while expressing themselves creatively. The sessions helped make arts more accessible, particularly for those who may not engage with creative opportunities, and contributed to a growing culture of creativity and connection within the local community.
Activity, health and leisure
The project promoted health and wellbeing by providing a regular, accessible leisure activity where participants could relax, be creative, and connect with others. Taking part in the sessions supported mental wellbeing by reducing isolation, encouraging social interaction, and offering a positive, mindful activity. The workshops also gave people a reason to get out of the house and engage in something enjoyable within their local community.
