I've had a passion for history and heritage of The Cotswolds all my life, starting my career in the agriculture, food & drink and now presenting. My recent work with The Cotswold Explorer YouTube channel has made it possible to make the history of the Cotswolds come to life. My mission is to engage and entertain all who watch our channel or listen to audio-style stories.
Hosting this podcast will be no different, I have a genuine interest in the stories people have to tell and helping fellow raconteurs find a platform to talk about "thier Cotswolds". I started the YouTube channel back in 2016, and despite having no funding to produce these films, my collaboraters have persisted and have helped me to grow the channel to more than 300K viewers per month.
It is obvious to me that there is a love for this region quite like no other, locally and internationally, and now I am keen to tell stories at a more grassroots level - told by inspirational local people and the elderly who have felt isolated throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before the Cotswold Explorer I hosted a chat show on the local television channel That's TV, where every week I spoke to a variety of amazing local business owners, event organisers and overall inspirational people. The programmes were well received and I developed a knack for interviewing. Many presenters get wrapped up in talking to their guest alone, forgetting those watching, but I believe there is an opportunity in keeping the viewer in mind at all times and making it a truly great experience for them too. I will most certainly be drawing on this experience when it comes to researching, writing and interviewing people for this podcast series.
My creative colloborators Ross and Vivienne come from the media and marketing sector, and they too have a commitment to telling interesting historical stories in a modern world. The combination of all our expertise in our various industries means we have the know how to make this podcast and video series a technical and creative accomplishment, and really add value to the region's art and culture.
We have always aimed to inspire all to explore the Cotswolds on their own terms, remaining a friendly guiding hand along the way.
