The Friends of Hafod-Morfa Copperworks is a group of volunteers set up to promote and help regenerate the copprworks site in the lower Swansea valley. We work with the City council, schools and the universities, Heritage Lottery and CADW as well as other local history and heritage groups to develop understanding of the significance of Swansea's role in the Copper industry and the wider role in industrialisation. We undertake talks and guided tours, litter picks and volunteer led restoration projects. Recently the 100 year old Musgrave travelling crane was removed from one of the engine house after 40 yesrs of dereliction and completely restored by a team of volunteers prior to reinstallation in the restored engine house. There it is hoped to play a pert in the future restoration of the unique Musgrave unitary engine which still sits in the engine house.
