Storrington Community Speedwatch (STORRCS) is a community group working in partnership with Sussex Police and Storrington and Sullington Parish Council. It was formed in September 2012.
Its purpose is to enhance road safety for residents and all road users by reducing speeding and other anti-social driving through education.
Trained volunteers monitor the speed of traffic using a laser speed meter at safety-assessed sites. Vehicles travelling at greater than 36mph in a 30mph limit area are logged and details are sent to Sussex Police, who issue warning letters to offenders.
No driver is prosecuted solely as a result of being reported by Speedwatch. Our object is to deter speeding, rather than report it.
All volunteers are trained and supervised on site.
