Help Us Hope By Help Us Hope

We want to renovate an unused space for our community and the homeless. Our goal is to bring the community together to build a space that reflects them and offer services like training and support.

Lewisham Delivery stage

£14
pledged of £58,627

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

The exact location of this project is still undetermined. We intend to secure premises in Lewisham over the coming weeks and will keep you informed! In the unlikely event we cannot secure a location, your pledges will not be collected. We want to be a space where the homeless people in the community can stay, receive food and advice to help them get jobs and accommodation. Also connect them to other services for further support. We want to open our doors to the homeless people in our community on Friday’s and provide them with meals and advice. We will offer training for everyone in the community and have activities run in the centre as well. We want to employ local people from the community to work at the centre and work with local businesses.

What we'll deliver:

  • Provide training and workshops for local people in the community
  • Provide employment
  • Provide food for over 1000 homeless people within the next year
  • Providing different services and support to homeless people in the community

Why it's a great idea:

Our project focuses on the process of building the centre as much as the outcome. The project will employ people in the community. We give people access to many different opportunities, volunteering, training and activities. We will decrease the homelessness in the borough. We want our community to be strongly apart of the process of us creating this space. We will listen to people’s suggestions and recommendations for the centres or what they might want to be trained in. Also including them in building and design aspect such as painting murals on the wall of the centre that reflect the community.

Steps to get it done:

  • Get the recommendations from the local community - May
  • Talk to local businesses - June
  • Advertise volunteer and employment opportunities - July
  • Interviews for volunteering and employment - August
  • Confirming partnerships with local business - August
  • Buy the equipement and materials to renovate the space - September
  • Confirm the facilitators and trainers for the workshop - September
  • Train all volunteers and employees - September
  • Paint and decorate the unused space - September-October
  • Opening viewing for the local community - September- November
  • Open the centre - Jan
