Broadstairs Town Team aim to make our town an even nicer place to live in, work in & visit.
Collaboration is central to everything we do — it’s about community working together for the benefit of people & place.
At the heart of our work is people’s physical & mental wellbeing. Through volunteering outdoors, whether gardening, improving public spaces, or running community events, we help reduce stress & isolation, encourage gentle physical activity, & create opportunities for social connection.
Our projects also foster creativity, learning & skill sharing.
Volunteers of all ages come together, exchanging knowledge in horticulture, sustainable planting, wildlife-friendly gardening, tool use, leadership & project coordination. Older & younger generations learn from one another, building confidence, resilience & a sense of purpose. Every new bed planted or space restored becomes a shared achievement, giving volunteers pride, accomplishment & a lasting connection to their community.
Some projects are simple to organise, others require detailed planning, & some we choose not to take on — as all our volunteers give their time freely, Town Team focuses on what is achievable & meaningful.
We rely on the generosity & skills of local people & are immensely proud of our volunteers. Broadstairs has an extraordinary culture of volunteering, not just for Town Team, but across many local groups and community-led events too. We all work together to improve our town.
We love to collaborate, connecting interested parties & supporting other community groups with governance, marketing & volunteer coordination.
By putting people & wellbeing at the core, Town Team projects create inclusive opportunities to contribute, grow skills, explore creativity, foster social connections & strengthen pride in place.
We are an entirely tourism-reliant town.
Our work is about improving the town and enhancing the lives of the people who care for it.
