More about our impact
The environment
As the renovations involved recycling and upcycling there were many discarded pieces of furniture and other resources that didn't go to landfill. The sessions we run at the art hub often use recycled materials and we promote this with participants too. The renovations to the garden have encouraged more greenery and wildlife as well as being a pleasant place to sit.
The local economy
We created five rentable workspaces for the community centre to hire and increase their revenue. We made these affordable and accessible for local artists.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We have increased the number of volunteers that support community activities at the Place.
Arts, culture & heritage
We maintained may of the original features of the building when renovating and the artists who have rented spaces feel comfortable working in an industrial space where they can create freely. The addition of the art hub and gallery has brightened up the entrance and more passers by are inclined to pop in now when the gates are open.
Activity, health and leisure
We focused mainly on wellbeing activities that support mental health mostly, encouraging those who are isolated or vulnerable in the community to get involved with creative pursuits.
