The idea
Heart of the Community@LRFC is Charitable Association with a board of trustees committed to supporting local clubs to become more active, connected and visible in the local area. The Community Activity Facility Fund (CAFF) has been designed to provide opportunities for groups that may be struggling for support, activity locations or opportunity. CAFF has a range of areas or Zones that will be repurposed into modern accessible facilities for the appropriate target market. This involves collaboration and sharing insight with local sports clubs and groups.
Area 1 - Development of a health and fitness area with indoor and outdoor equipment, providing opportunity and support
Area 2 - Adventure playground and natural play area, an extension of a previous successful traditional play park for the local community
Area 3 - A floodlight multi use ball sports area for community /. specific group use
Area 4 - An outdoor meeting space for the local cycling community and walking group
What we'll deliver
- Indoor and outdoor fitness area
- All weather multi sports area
- Adventure play area
- Outdoor meeting area for community groups
Why it's a great idea
Post COVID 19 pandemic and the removal of restrictions we would like to develop a local community that has the capacity to support and promote wellbeing, physical activity and community participation. We fell that creation of opportunities linked to interest groups and sports clubs will be the catalyst for this. Many clubs and groups are reporting that there are huge challenges to continue operation and engage with a new society. We feel that challenges in isolation can be resolved with integrated solution, shared resources and offers of support.
The heart of the Community@LRFC will continue to offer collaborative insight and opportunities to all parts of the community. The activities supported within our organisation will provide a positive environment for people to be active, healthy and socially connected.
The is also opportunity to grow provision and engage with new partners and possibilities. We are particularly excited out the natural play area and nature connection.
Steps to get it done
- Clearing and preparing areas for development
- Building the appropriate base for areas including safety fencing
- Assembling and purchasing equipment for areas
- Signage and visuals created
- Opening of new facilities, this may be staggered between areas
The project will again rely on a team of committed community volunteers. We have 25 volunteers already signed up to support delivery of the project. They bring motivation and community spirit, with many having connections with machinery, resources and contacts
