The environment
Stemming the tide of people buying more than they need and then throwing away is so important and showing people how to grow so that they can pick only what they need and leave the remainder to remain fresh and growing is so important. And this ethos of re-purposing, re-using, re-cycling whatever we can is paramount in saving our planet ... so much so that it is instilled in the minds of the fantastic people at Men's Sheds Bognor Regis in many ways
The local economy
Growing your own saves money... Re-purposing, re-using, and re-cycling saves money Loaning fundraising equipment to Community groups and individuals raises funds for their projects ALL these ways of creating and saving funds add to funds that groups and individuals can spend in our local businesses
Volunteering, jobs & education
The Grandadders (our Volunteers) have become a force for good in the Community and have indeed been instrumental in assisting other groups in many ways. We have taken unemployed people, ex-offenders and homeless individuals and given them a taste of helping others in the Community and in fact for 6 months two actually became Directors so that they could make a direct impact.... and they did.
Activity, health and leisure
I cannot speak on behalf of Mens Sheds Bognor Regis other than to say that they have evolved into a group that is making a difference and that I am proud of them. Dig It will grow and replant and hunker down for the winter this time.
