About the Project Creator
The Friends of Coed Bach Park in Pontarddulais are a group of awards- winning volunteers that have worked to improve CoedBach Park from April 2011.
The Friends work in partnership with the City of Swansea and Keep Wales Tidy and are implementing a 10 year management plan since 2013.
Considerable work has been progressed that includes:
focus on the amphibians, small mammals, birds, bees and reptiles, flora, trees and bats;
the development of a pond;
the clearance of undergrowth, removing invasive species, planting flowers and
pruning trees and bushes revealing native bluebells and fungi; the installation of wheel-chair friendly walkways, seating, play equipment and litter bins;
conducting surveys to identify species in the park and to find out what people want:
the layering of hedges, topping up the surface of the BMX track, painting the children’s play equipment and some of the park benches.
the production of activity sheets and the siting of information panels;
the application for grants and the raising of funds to undertake the work in the Park;
the promotion of events such as the annual fungi walk and training in the Park through social media channels ;
the current development of a sensory garden using grant funding that is being developed with a group of people with learning disabilities that are co-located in
the park and help with maintenance.
