We aim to revive the space into a Clean Green Sandyford project that locals can interact with and be part of, and most importantly, be proud of!
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
There is an unused green space in Sandyford, Newcastle upon Tyne. This green space is located on Doncaster Road. It is currently goes unused by residents. The aim of this project is to pull together a focus group of locals - this will include school children, students, older residents and businesses. Once we have a focus group, the Project Delivery Manager with then lead group workshops to help residents create a 'brand identity' for the project. The outcome of this will be a logo that residents can get behind. Once a design is picked, we will launch a campaign for locals to submit ideas as to what should happen to the green space in question. Through research and data collection, the end result will conclude with a small-scale Doncaster Road Street Party, in which the focus group will share urban design ideas to other local residents. Residents can then vote which idea they would like to see happen - and this is where the magic will happen to the green space.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Getting the local community involved in firstly creating a brand identity for the project, boots engagement and a sense community spirit. Bringing together locals who will include, school children, students, older residents and businesses will get people working together and form a collaboration that would not have existed if it were not for the project. I believe in getting locals to work together, share ideas and collaborate - something beautiful will happen to the green space, and I can't wait to see the final result of this development. Once we hit our fundraising target we will go into the research stage of the project. This research will look to improve health and wellbeing through urban design. The focus of the research is to work with a local scale focus group to create a Clean Green Sandyford ‘brand identity’ for the area, with a focus group exploring what residents, local students, school children and local businesses would like to see happen with the unused area of land.
