The idea
The Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool was first opened in 1870 and as such, aged 152, it is one of the oldest fully functioning open air pools in the country. With the exception of the lifeguards, the pool has been run by volunteers since the early 1970s.
In 2017 a new block was built to house the plant, changing rooms and office. The original plan hoped to include solar panels but the funds didn't stretch that far in the end.
As solar power does not emit any greenhouse gases in the energy generation process, we are now looking to help climate change by installing solar panels. They will also help us to pay for our electricity.
So, this is the project that we would like to put forward for installation in the closed season of the pool.

Why it's a great idea
Installing solar panels will not only save the pool money, it will help the environment and will also allow us to feel we are handing the pool over to the next generation in a better place environmentally than we took it over.
If we install this improvement, people will know that we are trying to preserve our heritage and also it will encourage them to spend more time at the pool - promoting activity and leisure.
