Our mission is to bring the latest movies and family favourites to the community, on our five-metre-wide screen, at affordable prices. We are a not-for-profit organisation and monies raised will be reinvested into the community and the hall itself.
The Redesdale Hall was originally built to be a place for "the betterment of the community" - where friends and family could gather for a drink and a catch-up.
Nowadays, although safe to use, it is in desperate need of repair and has become a rather sorry sight on Moreton High Street. A group of local volunteers has founded a charitable trust to save the building.
The Cinemarsh project will screen informative documentaries and current blockbusters, at affordable prices. So that once again everyone enjoy the beautiful Redesdale Hall. We're aiming to expand the project to include hot snacks, made in our on-site community kitchen, to those who need them most.

Why it's a great idea:
There is simply not enough to do for the local community in Moreton-in-Marsh. Particularly the youth and the isolated/elderly need a place where they can gather, chat, be entertained and feel at home.
The Redesdale Hall, opened in 1887, was originally built to be a place for exactly this "the betterment of the community" - but sadly it has fallen into disrepair and is covered in scaffolding. Inside, it is as beautiful as it ever was, and the building is 100% safe to use, but it certainly needs help.
The Grade II-listed building needs professional help to save it from subsidence and storm damage. The charitable trust behind the Redesdale Hall will continue to apply for grants to such as through The National Lottery Heritage Fund, but for these applications to be successful, the hall must return to its rightful place at the centre of the community.
This project is to simply 'join the dots' - to give the community a place to gather and to give the hall the community it was built for.
Steps to get it done:
- 10 screenings for the community
- 15 screenings for the community
- 15 screenings and hot food for those who need it
