More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

Our cinema always does the best it can to reduce it's carbon footprint, through using an eco friendly projector, we have recently insulated the auditorium so we use less power to heat it and we man our recycling stations so people recycle their popcorn boxes etc..

The local economy

The local economy

138 people came to the cinema on 18th October 2024, for that screening, history tells us that not everyone goes straight home and many people will have visited a local pub after the film, or had a meal out before the film

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We paid one of our young volunteers to provide 8 hours of filmmaking training, they have since gone to university and this work contributes to their CV - we are also able to provide them with a reference in a very competitive industry. There have been volunteers used throughout to create and deliver the film, many of whom have additional needs - the feedback from those volunteers was that they enjoyed being part of a non judgemental, supportive community

We are showing our wider community that film is for everyone and by giving under represented groups the chance to make and exhibit their own films, they have engaged more with film that previously and recognised the benefits that engagement brings. These groups are looking forward to making new films for next year, but they have inspired other groups to contact us to get involved next year too.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

People have had the chance to learn how to make films and apply that. We now have the equipment for them to use whenever they like to make films for us but to also make films for other events and occasions which is very exciting. Once again, people who would not normally come to the cinema came and enjoyed the evening in very comfortable surroundings. The films were shown under relaxed conditions so movement and noise was expected and embraced
