More about our impact

The local economy

Our staff and teenage volunteers learn so much in the short three weeks. Training and experience like no other on the job from day 1. By visiting local organisations for our activities and hiring local buses for three weeks.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Providing opportunities to over 47 local teenagers aged 14yrs and above that will stay with them for life. Showing them we can all make a difference.

Activity, health and leisure

Taking part in stimulating activities. Visiting quiet places like autistic friendly screening of the latest movie. Swimming and having our own pool for each session with two fully qualified lifeguards onto of our amazing volunteers getting in the water 1-1 Safety in swimming

Being the mother of a young adult with Downs Syndrome has brought many challenges over the past 32yrs. I would never change the path that Jamie has taken us on. He has brought us so much Love and Inspiration.

He is Immortalised in Steel on Dover sea front, due to him carrying the Olympic Torch in 2012.

Jamie has now carried the Queens Baton for the Commonwealth Games 2022. A memory imprinted in The Queens Jubilee year, and the final year of her Majesty's reign. This is the icing on the cake for Jamie now reaching his 32nd Birthday. He just never stops giving. Attending all events with me.....Where I go he goes and where he goes I go.

Jamie is my inspiration to keep Pegasus alive for all families with " special children" for as long as they need it.

Jamie has not only changed our lives as a family but hundreds of others for without Jamie I would never heve become involved with Pegasus.

In 2017 I was overwhelmed at the idea of receiving an MBE from HRH Prince William "Duke of Cambridge" I dedicated this to Jamie, as it was "For services to children with disabilties" which I am extremely proud of.

Being Chair and fundraiser for such an amazing community and supporting others is a privilage. The true realisation and struggle now for funding for all small charities is heartbreaking, and I fear it shall only get worse as people tighten their belts, understandably so. Mental Health of all is suffering greatly with the withdrawl of more and more services.

The Pegasus Committee, behind the scenes have given their all since 1986. We are only small but achieve BIG things. Ensuring, staff, children, volunteers and acitivities, are all safely managed and FUN is the Name of the Game. Wings to Fly is our byline.

It must count for something, The thousands of voluntary hours committed to our community and as a community we cannot and must not let Pegasus fail now.

It is vital Pegasus continues for the next generation. This is why we need your help and support.
