Please donate whatever you can! We need to fund a replacement zipwire for the children's playground - the existing zipwire is nearing the end of its useful life and we don't want to lose it!
Great Chesterford Recreation Ground Trust (a registered charity) is responsible for the provision of play equipment for children at the Recreation Ground in Great Chesterford, Essex. The Recreation Ground is situated in a highly accessible part of the village, next to the Community Centre, and includes sports pitches, a skate park and a children’s play area. The play area is very popular indeed with children of all ages, and is usually busy. The Recreation Ground Trust provides a variety of play equipment, to offer a safe and stimulating environment for children of all ages in the village. Our zipwire has been especially popular with the older children who use the playground. Unfortunately, the Trust recently had an inspection from RoSPA, who said that the existing zipwire is nearing the end of its useful life and must be replaced. We have secured funds from UDC, Aviva and the Sanger Institute (THANK YOU!) which takes us two-thirds of the way there!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The children in the village - especially pre-teens - love the zipwire and would really miss it if we had to remove it without replacing it. Unfortunately that might be necessary if we can't secure funding for a replacement. The village recently told us how much they value this project by voting for it in the Aviva Community Awards. We were successful in winning £1,000 from Aviva, which takes us further towards our £10,000 goal.
