More about our impact
The environment
Throughout the design, build and pperformance we amed to be sustainable in making costumes, using recycled clothes and material wherever possible. People brought their own cups/water containers to rehearsals to minimise waste. With many participants living within a short distance, we encouraged green transport and car shares wherever possible for participants.
The local economy
This was an enormous community event, by community players, for community audiences.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Starting rehearsals in January 2023, but planning for the preior 4 yars, the CMP Board consistes of 12 volunteer directors,. Over 400 people attended the launch event at Chester Cathedral in October 2023, resulting in over 250 volunteer performers, musicians and stage crew. We employed 13 'professional creatives and tecnicians' for some or all of the duration and created several work experience roles.
Arts, culture & heritage
CMP is one of the most regulat large scale arts event in the UK. It is always a highly anticipated event in Chester's calendar.
Activity, health and leisure
CMP 2023 was an energetic and ambitios production - many scenes were quite physical, though the Plays were not necessarily intended for a fitness regime! Certainly they contributed to Chester's leisure offer
