More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We turn on the heating only when the room is in use and turn it off when leaving. The lights have sensors, so switch off when there is no movement for a while. We have used recycled card for some of our activities. Any waste paper is separated into the correct recycling bins.

The local economy

The local economy

We are supporting people with health and well-being, which is keeping them happier, hence less stressed, and this in turn helps them stay healthier and make fewer visits to the doctors, saving the NHS money.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We are building confidence by enabling activities that lead to achievement. Women are getting empowered because they are gaining new skills. They are working in groups, encouraging teamwork and learning new skills, including communication and collaboration skills, which they can add to their CVs as transferable skills. They also help their children during Saturday activities, which is enabling community ownership and teamwork. They are learning creative skills, which with practice can lead to self-employment. They are making new friends and coming out of the house to take part, which is reducing isolation.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

We have started delivering arts and crafts activities, which take place on Saturdays during the drop in sessions. The Monday and Tuesday sessions are about reading, storytelling and skills development and we started those in January as well. The remaining forecasts will happen as the project develops further.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

We have been delivering healthy eating sessions on Saturday along with arts and crafts. Mothers and children have started learning about the Eatwell Plate and healthy eating, which is promoting health. We will be starting exercise sessions after Ramadan, so this will be in April.
