A Connected, Greener and Healthier Malvern Hills
Callow End Village Hall car park is wearing out. It needs resurfacing with asphalt to keep it safe for users. We want our local community to support the hall by joining our fundraising campaign.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Callow End Village Hall is a community building managed by the group of volunteers. It has been providing a place in the village for people to meet for all sorts of social, exercise, entertainment, and community activities since 1926. Our aim is the keep the hall going for another 100 years. We aim to maintain the hall as an attractive venue that people want to use, with the facilities expected from a modern community building. Income from the hire of the hall aims to cover the cost of maintenance and most upgrades. Hire charges are set with the aim of covering the costs, whilst still being affordable to all. However, sometimes a major expense arises that cannot be afforded from income and reserves without some external help.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Renovating the hard surfacing at Callow End Village Hall is long overdue. The management committee have received issues regarding the safety of those who use the hall, particularly in the darker evenings and inclement weather. The potholes are a trip hazard and have been identified as such in the recent risk assessments, and although we have temporarily repaired the worst of the holes, there are still urgent remedies to be made. One corner of the rear car park puddles in times of rainfall and proves tricky to exit any car without getting wet feet. The car park is used by all the community, not only users of the village hall itself, but also as overspill parking for Callow End CE Primary School and St James Church, both in close proximity.
Steps to get it done:
The car park area is already covered in asphalt which was laid over 20 years ago. This project is to repair an existing installation. There is an extra area of land which has been left to grass and natural hedgerow to attract wildlife and enhance the ambiance of the rural location. This will remain in its present state for the enjoyment of the community and is outside the area of the project.
