The idea
The Purls.UK are passionate about combatting loneliness and isolation by getting people together, to gain and develop skills, connect and build relationships and access new spaces and environments.
Project 1.
The main project is to create 'miniblooms' inspired by the Tower of London's Superbloom as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, which will be positioned around Hammersmith & Fulham. We will focus on the mindful, wellbeing impact of engaging with gardening, growing and connecting with nature.
Project 2.
The Purls.UK will knit and crochet twiddle mitts for participants of Sensory Palaces, Historic Royal Palaces programme for people living with dementia and their carers. Twiddle mitts have shown to aid people with impaired sensory perception by reducing anxiety and bringing a sense of calm to the users.
Both projects aim to increase inclusion, enabling people of all abilities to access the historic spaces, gardens and stories of the palaces.
