The idea
Artventure is a charity offering art sessions for adults with learning disabilities. We want to exhibit their artwork wider to the local community and involve people in collaborative ventures.
We aim to show the value of the work our artists produce to the community while providing the chance for our disabled artists to develop self-expression and encourage a greater sense of self-worth.
We are planning a two week exhibition during Surrey Artists' Open Studios at Artventure Studio showing at least a 120 artworks of our participants.
We will offer creative art workshops for the children and adults in the local community led by artists. We will hold an event to celebrate the achievements bringing participants, parents, carers, volunteers and members of our immediate community together.
What we'll deliver
- Hold a 2 week exhibition of at least 120 artworks
- Offer two art workshops for children and another two for adults in the community
- Organise a celebratory event
Why it's a great idea
The exhibition will raise the profile of disability art.
Our events and the connecting marketing activity (advertisements in local papers, social media) will raise awareness of of the service Artventure provides that might be useful for other members of the community who does not know about it.
Our disabled participants will have a sense of achievement by seeing their artworks professionally displayed and worthy of the attention of the wider community.
Bringing together the Artventure community and the local community.
