Each of the display boards will feature six iconic pictures together with a 75 word description of the content and the context of each picture. In addition, we would be keen to install new dual recyclable and general waste bins adjacent to the new display boards.
The Waterloo and Crosby beaches, know locally as the Iron Men beach, features Anthony Gormley's "Another Place" Installation, 100 cast iron life size figures spread over 3 km of foreshore and stretching 1 km out to sea. Hightown beach is much more secluded and features the historic sunken forest.
Our beaches are hugely popular, we are very keen to improve substantially the "visitor experience" of seeing both the Iron Men beach and the very natural beautiful Hightown beach.
What we'll deliver:
- 3 high quality display boards
- 3 dual purpose twin waste bins
Why it's a great idea:
Sefton Council adopted a Vision for Crosby Coastal Park in May 2022 . This describes the area as " Exciting and full of surprises, . . a dynamic landscape that shapes and inspires the borough...a gateway to this stunning coast. We want to explore opportunities to protect, improve and develop this area and what it can offer to residents, visitors and businesses".
The Crosby Coastal Park Forum was established as the vision was being adopted. Our prime objective is to ensure that the local community has a large say in helping to deliver this vision. The Forum is very aware that significant improvements are necessary if the vision is to become a reality and has already brought together beach cleaning groups, provided equipment, obtained money for art work' helped install defibrillators and held meetings to link up the community and its visitors with various stakeholders.
Our first display board has attracted significant interest and appreciation
