The idea
Crossroads is a valued part of the local community, offering practical support and connection to those facing hardship. This sustainability project aims to strengthen the long-term financial stability of our work, grow volunteer opportunities and training, and promote greater environmental responsibility.
While we respond well to urgent needs, we have identified the need to help people move beyond crisis. Guided by the principle that giving a person a fish feeds them for a day, but teaching them to fish feeds them for life, we aim to expand the wraparound support we provide. The focus of this project is to encourage sustainable wellbeing in finances, social connections, and physical and mental health. We aim to achieve this through budgeting support, healthy eating initiatives, and activities that foster social connection and mental wellbeing.
What we'll deliver
- Sustainability review of existing project
- Broaden holistic wrap around support offered
- Increase volunteer training and opportunities
- Grow budgeting support for clients
- Expand healthy eating initiatives
- Develop long-term strategy for financial stability
Why it's a great idea
This project will bring lasting benefits to individuals, Crossroads Community Hub, and the wider community by embedding sustainability at every level of our activities. It will strengthen the long-term stability of our work through the implementation of a clear fundraising strategy. Expanding volunteer roles and training will empower more people to contribute meaningfully and gain valuable skills. Those who access our services will benefit from expanded holistic support, helping them develop the skills needed to improve their financial stability, physical health, and mental well being. Through budgeting guidance, healthy eating initiatives, and activities that build social connection, we aim to help individuals break the cycle of crisis and take steps towards sustainable futures. A review of our environmental impact will support the integration of more eco-friendly practices across all areas of our work.
