More about our impact
The environment
For the past two years we have aimed to increase the environmental focus of the festival which was achieved once again by offering a fully accessible programme of music, theatre and performance all without amplification and generators, creating an event, both mellow and calm. We encouraged traders to use recyclable containers, added additional bins and replaced plastic water bottles with recyclable cans and succeeded in significantly reducing the amount of litter generated over the two days. We sited the main festival on the Midland Field, this included two marquees as the venue for multiple free accessible workshops people of all ages. Each artist was tasked with presenting work with a focus on the natural environment or creativity using found or recycled objects.
The local economy
Two days of kite flying and excellent diverse entertainment brought 20 000 people to Morecambe.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We provided employment opportunities for 37 freelance people over the course of the weekend. This was alongside 8 More Music staff and 20+ people employed on the stalls.
Arts, culture & heritage
We sited the main festival on the Midland Field, this included two marquees as the venue for multiple free accessible workshops people of all ages. Each artist was tasked with presenting work with a focus on the natural environment or creativity using found or recycled objects. We are always proud to present great employment opportunities for local artists including Molly Bland, Elizabeth Clough, Kirsten Fieselban, Jessica Holmes, Shreya Ghodke who all respond beautifully to the challenge of creating diverse, meaningful and high quality work with hundreds of people. We also welcomed the Confucius Society from the University of Lancaster, Bay Blueprint for Recovery, Lancaster & Morecambe College, Unique Kids & Co who provided additional workshop content while promoting their own charities and organisations.
