We’re tackling loneliness among older people by collaborating with charities, like Age UK Croydon and Battersea, to help over-55s adopt dogs, providing dog-walking volunteers and a support network.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
CareDogs charity seeks to end social loneliness in older people through dog adoption, a befriending network and local community support. By offering befriending and dog-walking services to those who can join the dog adoption community, CareDogs aims to create life-changing connections.
Working towards a world where no older person in the UK feels alone, CareDogs seeks to solve isolation in older people through the following:
1. Facilitating dog adoption, giving them a constant canine companion.
2. Weekly interaction and exercise with their volunteer dog walker.
3. Integrating them into the CareDogs community in their local area with events and a friendly support network.
In short, we aim to encourage intergenerational connections to tackle social isolation among older people, whilst also creating a new demographic of dog owners.
