By Cardiff Community Cohesion Cup - 2015
The CCCC'15 is a football tournament between BME communities within Cardiff. The objective is to build relationships trust, and improve communications with local authorities & the community itself.
The Cardiff Community Cohesion Cup is an excellent initiative which is aiming to bring together key BME communities along with South Wales Police and other authorities through the power of sport.
This has been created because we are faced with key challenges across the city of Cardiff within the minority ethnic communities and how we can improve this great city we live in.
The concept is really simple, we bring together community football teams, and in the spirit of fair play they play each other culminating in a final against a select 11 of ex professionals from Man Utd, Cardiff & Swansea City along with SW Police at the incredible Millennium Stadium.
Throughout the matches, elders, community officers and members of each community are meeting, socializing and breaking down barriers of distrust, poor levels of engagement and having an enjoyable time together.
Really simple, effective and for a great social cause.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We are really passionate about making Cardiff an even better city to live in, especially within the communities which need additional support and with lower levels of trust and engagement with the local authorities and services.
After 12 months of planning the fun has begun, and we are already seeing positive results of hosting the Cardiff Community Cohesion Cup.
The concept is hopefully so effective because of it's simplicity, there is no better way to get to the heart of each community than football, and we are really looking forward to the final at the Millennium Stadium, which is being held on the 30th April 2015.
Each year the event is getting bigger and we are able to engage with a wider audience, what started with the Sudanese community in 2014 has now grown to 6 teams and the aim is to grow to 10 teams for 2016.
However to make this work we need the support of people and organisations like yourself to ensure we maximise the social opportunities and enable this great work.
