To make the Fishbourne Centre carbon free - increase energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, help combat climate change, by first improving the efficiency of our lighting.
We want and are going to do our bit to combat climate change. Ultimately to reduce carbon emissions to zero. The first phase is to improve the efficiency of the lighting, ie replacing all the inefficient bulbs with LED, thus saving a significant amount of carbon emissions per annum by this phase alone. Then the heating system will be made smarter and two oil boilers replaced by a sustainable system. These changes plus the funds released by increased efficiency will enable improvement of the service to the community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Climate change is of increasing concern to the nation and the community (let alone the planet). An independent survey showed that the Centre performs poorly in respect of energy efficiency and carbon emissions. We are determined to improve but need help. We can improve energy efficiency significantly at modest cost and quickly, by changing some 170 old fashioned bulbs with LED. We can show the community that we are taking climate change seriously, doing our bit, getting momentum for more ambitious projects and hopefully setting an example.
Steps to get it done:
The reduction in consumption of electricity not only reduces carbon emission but also reduces cost which enables us to improve facilities for the many activities which take place in the Centre.
