Outdoor learning for all in Northwich

Bugz and bunnies By Bugz and bunnies

We are a small CIC company and have recently set up as a forest school ( outdoor learning) our aim is to help bring together people within our community to learn about survival skills.

Northwich Delivery stage

£863
pledged of £15,611

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

We are still waiting for planning permission to be approved. In the unlikely scenario that this isn't approved, this campaign will be closed and all pledges will be refunded. Forest school helps bring people within our local community together. It is for all ages & abilities. It is for local people to enjoy and learn new skills. Skills include vegetable & fruit growing, cooking on a campfire, bushcraft making, den making - which helps with survival skills. Children learn better in a non pressured environment with the support of their peers. This helps improve their self esteem & problem solving with various outdoor learning skills. The adult groups can benefit from helping with more complex areas of the forest school. This could include helping the younger learners with knot tying & den building. For the older groups it can help break down barriers of isolation that they may face on a daily basis and help bring together different skills from various groups.

What we'll deliver:

  • Plant more trees and vegetable areas.
  • To be self sufficient with learning about growing of vegetables and fruit to help learn new skills cooking outdoors.
  • Install solar panels on log cabin roof for winter months & wet weather days
  • Much needed equipment of forest school tools that are needed to be able to teach learners bushcraft skills

Why it's a great idea:

Our main inspiration behind setting up as a forest school is from our daughter who has special needs. Over the years we have experienced many barriers to accessing activities. We feel that our project has an important place in society. Our aim is to help as many groups of people in our community come together to learn about their local environment and how to become more self sufficient in these challenging times we face today. Just being able to teach learners how to grow their own vegetables and cook independently or learn how to make a shelter. Also learning how to make various bushcrafts is also a new skill and our basic survival skills of which would be a great asset. There is also a fun and uplifting side to forest school where people can feel safe in a no pressured environment and hub that we hope to create.

Steps to get it done:

  • Planting trees and various vegetables/fruit
  • installing solar panels
  • planting trees
  • cutting down food waste
  • upcycling helping reduce landfill
