The idea
Brentford School for Girls plans to renovate and improve its current Redgra surface (the Redgra surfacing is a blend of fine stone and clay) to a multi-use 3G astro turf surface.
A new, improved facility would provide much-needed high quality PE provision for the school itself as well as a local facility for other young people and schools in the local area. The regeneration of the Brentford School surface will provide a sports and educational facility which can be used flexibly to support and inspire students into the benefits of keeping fit & healthy. We have taken the oppotuniy to meet with local school, Brentford Fc and Sports Impact to discuss the opportunities that a newly renovated facility at the school would provide. It would enable us to improve our partnership with the local community.
The current Redgra takes up a large area of the school site and in poor weather conditions becomes quickly unusable.
What we'll deliver
- 3G Astro turf
- Imporved school facility
- Community use facility
Why it's a great idea
This project will enable us as a school to further provide excellent facilities, not only for our students, but also for the local community. The project will provide the school with a multi functional surface that will not only benefit our PE department and the many sporting clubs it provides on a daily basis but also each and every department that may wish to use it to help with the education of our pupils. It also provides us as a school the opportunity to create a space for local primary schools to use where they have limited space on their own sites as well as giving us the opportunity to showcase our school to those who visit the site to use this facility. Finally, the project will also provide a much needed income for the school via private lettings of the facility outside of the school day, which will help us maintain what is already a fantastic school in Hounslow borough.
Steps to get it done
- We hope to have the new astro turf in place and ready for the new academic year, beginning in September 2018.
