The idea
We are seeking funding to purchase refreshments for Open Road’s Brunch Clubs, which run across our centres in Colchester, Clacton, Chelmsford, Harlow, and Basildon. These clubs provide a vital social space for individuals in recovery from addiction, those experiencing homelessness, and people facing financial hardship. Many of our clients struggle with isolation, food insecurity, and the stigma surrounding addiction, making it difficult to engage with support networks and rebuild their lives. The Brunch Clubs offer a welcoming environment where clients can enjoy a warm drink and snacks, build friendships, and access additional support from our Engagement Workers.
What we'll deliver
- 5 sessions a week across Essex
- Support a minimum of 25 individuals per week
Why it's a great idea
Through the Brunch Clubs, we foster peer support, improve well-being, and encourage positive community connections. Providing free refreshments removes a key barrier to participation, ensuring that individuals feel welcome and able to engage. By sustaining these clubs, we will help people feel valued, supported, and less alone on their journey to recovery. These gatherings not only build routine and stability, combat isolation and create social connection, but also empower individuals to access additional services, build their confidence, and improve their mental health, as well as taking positive steps towards a healthier and more stable future.
