Supporting great ideas to make a greener, connected, healthier Cotswolds
We want to raise enough funding to extend our small arena so that we can take family and sibling referral's all year round.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
We are an independent charity just outside of Cirencester that works with CYP struggling with mental health challenges and not responding to talk based therapies. This project funding will help us to support some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged families in our local community. We currently have a small 20 x 15 metre arena which is big enough to run one of our programs at a time. We would like to extend this to a 40 x 15 metre so double the size so that we can teach more than one person at a time. This will not only enable us to take family and sibling referral's all year round but also allow us to reduce our lone working by enabling us to run two courses at a time. Currently we are limited to running a second session in the fields which is weather dependant.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We work with CYP and at risk adults. We take referrals from social care, mental health services, police, education, and specialist services. They have not progressed in talk-based services and are at a high level of need. We have a waiting list for ReStarts and for many timing is everything such as those from Edge of Care and reunification. Our research shows that the skills they learn with us do stick long term, transferring to everyday life with measurable results to create resilient communities: 70% reduced problem behaviours 85% greater engagement with education, training and work 80% improved relationships 95% positive changes in identity. We do have a vast library of evidence and research on our website but I think the referral analysis by Bournemouth University demonstrates the need with our participants being involved with an average of 2-3 agencies and suffering for an average of 4.2 of the problems https://centredhorseplay.org.uk/evidence/
Steps to get it done:
In order to engage and educate key workers and staff we also present at in house training days so that referrers understand that our course is a 'need to have' rather than a 'nice to have' intervention for their clients, this ensures that we can help the right people in most need of our service. We also offer non verbal strategy workshops for referring professionals which have been very popular in the last 12 months. These are all run by volunteers and further ensure that we are accepting the right referral's who sadly really need our help.
