Bledington Parish Council along with a group of local residents want to turn the existing old playground in to a fantastic new play facility at the heart of the community.
Bledington Parish Council is planning to improve the Bledington Playing Field playground on Old Burford Rd, Bledington OX7 6UU. The current playground is very dated and lacks play equipment for toddlers and primary school children. It was designed 13 years ago for 12-15 years plus. We want to create a revitalised play area at the heart of this community green space. The project is based on survey responses from local residents on what they would most like to see change in the playing field. This process indicated just how much the play area means to local people in the village as well as families living in neighbouring villages. Many residents had to take their young children away from the village to other playgrounds as they couldn't play in their own village playground. The council has allocated some funds to get started but this will not be enough to pay for new equipment. Our aim is to create an outstanding play facility for children aged 1 to 12.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We want children in the village to be able to have fun, play in a safe environment and spend time with their friends and family at the village playground. Following the restrictions of Covid, and indeed the continuing effect of this on socialisation, this initiative will provide a healthy outdoor environment in a green space which will promote physical and mental health and wellbeing. Both after school and in the school holidays, it will encourage youngsters to exercise, play, and simply have fun, alongside the building of friendships amongst parents, grandparents, carers and children in a natural and safe environment.
