The idea
The event will attract audiences from Dudley and the wider region. Black Country Multicultural Day 2025 on Saturday 19th July 2025 will be the fourth event following the success of the last 3 years in Dudley Town Centre and Halesowen with the help from TNL Community funding. In 2025 we will return to Halesowen. This event will bring people from the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton to come together into the heart of the Black Country to celebrate how diverse these borough's have become. Multicultural Day is about promoting understanding within our communities. A popular festival engaging diverse communities. We will feature exceptional diverse artists & performers from across our region and work with regional museums, local community and creative organisations. and town centre regeneration agencies i.e. Halesowen Bid to produce a vibrant, relevant event, contributing to local Place Making agendas.
What we'll deliver
- Djembe and Bhangra Dance Workshops
- Arts and crafts workshops from different cultures
- Pakistani Truck Art displays
- A heritage exhibition about industrial heritage
- Role play by characters from the Black Country Living History Museum.
- Traditional Cultural Food from different Diversities in the black country
Why it's a great idea
Our 2025 festival will address ACEs Creative Case for Diversity as we are principally a culturally diverse, artist led and produced festival. Additionally, we are presenting artists and performers from diverse communities and specifically performers of quality who are representative of the target audiences that will make an impact and exceptional contribution to the programme. Performers and artists of the likes of the Dhol and music outfit , Bhangra Smash up, a leading We Midlands based & nationally renowned Punjab music group will be our festival headliners and will collaborate with local music groups especially the Yemeni Arts performers. Highly accomplished local Bollywood, folk and Indian Classical dancers from the local Indian Hindu Community Forum will collaborate with professional dancers (company tbc)to devise a new work specially for the BCMCD Festival based on fusion and intercultural synergy. include and leading with djemba drumming workshops also including we will bring theiTruck Art inspired mobility vehicle to the festival and run Truck Art inspired creative activity for families. We will have Polish and Eastern / Central European performers, choirs and artists on the stages. The Festival embodies the Creative Case for Diversity throughout in that it is a diversity-led event presenting diverse practitioners
