Bike Worcester is a local multi-organisational group that’s been set up specifically to identify actions that can be taken to make it easier and safer for more people to cycle around the City.
We are a growing community of people based in and around Worcester who are fans of the humble bicycle and its use as a regular mode of transport. As an active travel advocacy group it is our aim to increase cycling rates in Worcester and the surrounding area by enabling and encouraging more people to use a bike, particularly for short journeys within the City.
Bike Worcester believes an increase in active travel and a reduction in reliance on private motor vehicles is essential to improve the city environment for everyone living and working in the City of Worcester. The benefits of active travel are well documented, from personal physical and mental health, to reducing congestion and journey time, and the environmental benefits of reducing CO2 emissions of the City and improving air quality, noise levels and general quality of life.
To achieve an increase in active travel locally will require engagement and action from numerous stakeholders in different areas, notably the Parish, City and County Councils, representative councillors, local businesses and representative bodies, schools, colleges and the university, West Mercia Police, health providers, the local media, other local user or advocacy groups, and not least, everyone that lives and works in Worcester.
