The idea
The Best of Preston events in 2022/23 provided paid gigs for around 40 local artists performing their own original songs at free events in the City Centre.
Both the artists and local music fans welcomed the opportunity to celebrate local talent and supported the crowdfunders alongside support from Lancashire County Council, Preston Council, McCrerie Guitars and the Orchard Bar at Preston Market.
While some of the artists have recorded music, many have not and this project will provide an opportunity to record an original song in a local professional recording studio.
At least 20 artists from the greater Preston area will be invited to record songs and the best ones will be uploaded on a free to access platform to promote original music from the area.

Why it's a great idea
The project will give many local singer-songwriters the chance to record an original song in a professional recording studio. Many of them have never had this experience. It will give them a platform for their music and may help develop confidence.
It will also provide business and a platform for a local recording studio.
The project will produce a free and easily accessible resource for local people to access the great songwriting talent in the local area. If we over find, we will produce some CD’s.
