Our Best Of Living programme is a pioneering initiative designed to tackle the pressing issue of the cost of living crisis in some of the UK's most deprived areas. With a strong focus on providing support and solutions to those affected, the program offers a unique approach through weekly football sessions that span either six or twelve weeks. By harnessing the power of football, the programme not only promotes physical well-being but also fosters a sense of community and empowerment among participants. These football sessions serve as a safe and inclusive space for individuals facing financial hardships, enabling them to develop crucial skills, build resilience, and form lasting connections. Through this innovative and engaging programme, we aim help to alleviate the burden of the cost of living crisis and empower individuals to overcome adversity while promoting a healthier, more connected society.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Utilising football as a means of addressing the cost of living crisis fosters community engagement, encouraging individuals to enhance their physical and mental wellbeing in collaboration with us. Improved Quality of Life: By addressing the cost of living crisis, our project can significantly improve the standard of living for individuals and families. When basic necessities like housing, food, and healthcare become more affordable and accessible, people can lead healthier and happier lives. Reduced Poverty: Tackling the cost of living crisis can help alleviate poverty in communities. When the burden of high living costs is eased, people can have more disposable income, which in turn can lead to increased economic mobility and opportunities for upward social mobility. Enhanced Well-being: Lowering the cost of living can positively impact mental and physical health. Reduced financial stress and anxiety can lead to improved overall well-being, contributing to healthier communities.
Steps to get it done:
Football mental health sessions, such as those delivered by Head In The Game, have proven to be effective in improving people's mental health and well-being due to a combination of physical activity, social interaction, emotional expression, and structured support. These sessions provide a unique & holistic approach to mental health care that addresses various aspects of an individual's wellbeing, making them valuable tools in promoting mental health & recovery. Physical Activity: Regular physical exercise has long been recognised as a fundamental pillar of mental health improvement. Engaging in football sessions provides an outlet for individuals to release endorphins & reduce stress levels. Physical activity also improves sleep quality, boosts self-esteem, & enhances cognitive function, all of which contribute to overall mental wellbeing. Social Interaction: Football mental health sessions offer a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can connect with others.
