We are a sustainable food education charity located in East Malling, Kent, at the heart of the ‘Garden of England’. We show children, young people and adults how to grow fresh food in a chemical free, sustainable way, consequently benefiting physical and mental wellbeing in harmony with the natural environment.
We began as a hyper-local community food growing space; ten years later we continue to teach local people about the food they eat and the soil it grows in, only now we deliver that education to local schools - with a particular on students with special educational needs and disabilities - and adults coping with mental health and long-term physical health challenges.
Food growing and everything that surrounds it - gardening, cooking, crafting, healthy eating and the community celebration of food - provide an effective and cost-efficient broad-spectrum therapy that we are committed to delivering to the vulnerable, the isolated and the socially/economically deprived. The therapeutic benefits of gardening are well-evidenced. Our relaxed, inclusive environment enables people to learn at their own pace and feel valued as part of our community.
