More Music is a community music and education charity based in the West End of Morecambe, Lancashire. We are one of the longest running and most highly regarded community music and education organisations in the UK providing a year-round programme that covers a breadth of music making activity and involves people of all ages and all backgrounds. We have been described as ‘game-changers through music’ and this is widely recognised regionally, nationally and internationally.
More Music has over 30 years’ experience of delivering successful projects that demonstrate our flexibility, imagination, partnership development and connection to communities.
Our diverse programme of music sessions in our accessible building, including playtime for early years, drop-in sessions for teenagers, social sessions for disabled people, and singing for older people, are low cost with free bursary places. We have c.6,000 engagements in our in-house sessions, and 20,000+ for events and festival, developing pride and cohesion locally.
We work with a vast range of partners from local authorities to youth services, education institutions to cultural partners, music education hubs to tourism agencies and also many local businesses.
In the past decade we have pioneered community music provision for mental health and such is the impact locally that NHS partners have provided funding for a Young Person’s Social Prescriber, based at More Music, who works with young people facing challenges and supports them into suitable creative activity.
